Kaushal Srivastava Tipped To Be Next CBEC Chairman


 Kaushal Srivastava , a senior officer of the Indian customs andCentral Excise Service, is tipped to be appointed as the next Chief of the Central Board of Excise and Custom (CBEC), replacing incumbent J M Shanti Sundharam who retires this month.

Kaushal Srivastava, a 1978 batch IC&CES officer is being tipped as the next CBEC Chairman, replacing incumbent J M Shanti Sundharam who retires this month.
Srivastava, a 1978-batch Indian Customs and central excise Service (IC&CES) officer, is currently serving as a member (budget) with additionalcharge of computerisation and vigilance.
He is the senior-most in the board after the present chairperson J M Shanti Sundharam.
Srivastava, previously held the post of Chief Commissioner, Central Excise, Delhi before joining as a member in CBEC on October 22, last year.
A law graduate, Srivastava, will have a tenure of eight months as he will retire on June 30, next year, on his attaining the age of superannuation.
The CBEC has six members apart from the Chairman and is the apex body for policy and administrative issues related to indirect taxes i.e customs, central excise and service tax.
Two of the six posts of members are lying vacant in Central Board of Excise and Custom (CBEC) till date.
