The National Pension System (NPS) was launched on 1st January, 2004 with the objective of providing retirement income to all the citizens. NPS aims to institute pension reforms and to inculcate the habit of saving for retirement amongst the citizens. Initially, NPS was introduced for the new government recruits (except armed forces). Income tax department of India extended the last date for filing income tax returns till 5th August, 2013.
There are still some people who did not file their returns due to one or the other reason. There is still chance for such people.
The income tax returns can be filed before the ending of assessment year. If all the taxes are already paid, such salaried persons, there will be no problem for filing the IT returns late.
If the taxes are not paid, filing the IT returns late may create some problems.
Tax deduction is applicable to salaried persons at source.
If such persons do not file the returns in time, there will be no problem. These persons can file their returns before the end of assessment year without any penalties. After March, 2014 these persons will have to pay a penalty of Rs. 5,000.

 The government is likely to announce a hike in dearness allowance to 90 percent from existing 80 percent in September, benefiting about 50 lakh central employees and 30 lakh pensioners ahead of the festival season.

All the unit Secretaries are requested to submit notice/notices to the respective Chief Commissioner(s)/ Commissioner(s) enclosing the notice served by SG to FM. Regional Office Bearers and Unit Office Bearers are requested to conduct meeting(s) at different places of their jurisdiction to motivate our members to participate in the agitation to be held on 04.09.13 and try to make it a grand success. Press release should also be made by all Units  before and after the agitation to be conducted on 04.09.13.

As per the letter of MOS(DOPT) addressed to Mr. Punia, MP,  the DOPT has sent the note on CR to Cabinet Secretariat for convening COS meeting on 12.07.13  but  it seems that no firm date has yet been finalized for holding the COS meeting. (talk about COS meeting on 7th appears to be a rumor).  In fact  the note relating to promotion from Gr.B(Gazetted) to AC is not an encouraging one to address the stagnation head-on and another area which will further add up to the woe is implementation part.The  meeting of the Group of  Secretaries is not going to be conducted  during August on a very silly ground that  the Parliament is in session. Therefore at present we have no other alternative except to opt for agitation.
