India is a country of festivals and celebrations. October is a month of very high-spirited time in the country. On 2nd October, Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of a great leader and protagonist of peace Mahatma Gandhiji. 2nd October is also Sastry Jayanti. People celebrate Dussehra, a very significant festival of Hindus, which celebrates the victory of good over evil. Maharishi Valmiki's Birthday and Karva Chouth will also be observed during this month.
