Sub: Compassionate appointment.

Sir,

Kindly refer to the letter F.No. 610/012021-TCB Dt. 08.05.21 of CBDT (copy enclosed).

2. It is to submit with due regards that the CBDT has issued the above letter to the formations under them to expedite the process of compassionate appointment particularly keeping in view the unfortunate demise of the officers under the Covid-19 pandemic.

3. It is further to submit that hundreds of our officers have already lost lives under the pandemic. Under the unprecedented situation, their families are facing tremendous difficulties to survive in addition to facing the saddest moments of unfortunate demise of their earning hands.

4. In view of the above, it is requested to direct the formations under CBIC also to expedite the compassionate appointments alongwith considering the compassionate appointments pending for years. It is also requested to kindly seek required relaxation in the rules from the nodal department in this regard, if required. If the relaxation in residency periods can be sought to promote direct recruit IRS officers, it can also be given by the nodal department for compassionate appointments considering the utmost seriousness of the matter.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely,

            Encl: As above.
