DEPUTATION TO CBI

The CBI has sought customs and central excise officers on deputation to help it investigate complex cases, including those on financial crimes. The agency, which is entrusted with probe of various economic offences, lacks officers with expertise in taxation and accounting-related matters which are needed for deciphering white-collar crimes.CBI director Anil Kumar Sinha has written to Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) seeking nominations of eligible officers. “As you are aware that Central Bureau of Investigation is a predominantly deputationist organization, hence we keep requiring services of officers from different organizations for induction. This would be advantageous for both the organizations,” Sinha said in a letter to CBEC chairman Kaushal Srivastava. ] The CBI would utilize the expertise and experience of the officers for investigation of complex cases and after their repatriation, the experience gained by them in CBI would benefit the parent organizations, Sinha said while seeking nomination of IRS officers as well customs and central excise group B officials. The CBI is looking for suitable officers with impeccable integrity and outstanding annual confidential reports to fill nine posts in the rank of superintendents of police on deputation basis. These posts are to be filled by officers other than those belonging to Indian Police Service.
