AIACEGEO began its journey in April, 1987 from the historic city of Patna. It was a challenging time for us because of framing of Gr-A Recruitment Rules by CBEC arbitrarily depriving the benefits to Central Excise Officers in inducting Gr-A and allowing more benefits to Customs Appraisers. With undaunted spirit we put our heads and hands together
* To uphold the dignity of our service ,
*To foster a spirit of cooperation and "espirit de corps" among our members ,
*To promote and safeguard the common interest of our members ,
*To move for the redressal of legitimate grievances of our members concerning,
pay, promotion, career prospects, status, service conditions, retirement benefits etc.
*To work in coordination with similar service associations if necessary ,
*To forward interest of our members without bias of caste, creed and religion .
Initially this was a federative body of the associations at the Zonal level, and was named as "All India Federation of Central Excise Gazetted Executive Officers". After the promulgation of the Recognition of Service Association Rules 1993, by the Govt. of India, the name of our Association has been
changed to "ALLINDIA ASSOCIATION OF CENTRAL EXCISE GAZETTED EXECUTIVE OFFICERS" (AIACEGEO)
Presently our Association has 39 units all over India. The AIACEGEO has been recognised under F.NO.B. 12017/10/2006-Ad.IV A dated 21.01.08 initially for three years up to 20.01.2011 and thereafter for 5 years up to 20.01.2016 under the Recognition of Service Association Rules 1993. Our Association has a democratic set-up, which has already stood the test of 23 Associate Committee Meetings in our 27 years of existence. Convention has been held for 11th times as on 2014. The first AEC meeting was held at Patna ( thereafter once in Cochin,5th times in Chenai, once in Bhubaneswar, once in Bangalore, twice in Patna, twice in Guntur, once in Kolkata, twice in Pune/ Lunavilla, twice in Daman, once in Agra, Once in Kanpur, once in Noida, twice in Jaipur, once in Ludhiana) Ours is a history of struggle for the common good. With overwhelming support of around 18,500 members we can be hopeful of a better and stronger future of our Association. This monolithic association of over more than 18,500 members are having the vision to set up a strong Association to protect the interests of members. The strength of the association is well demonstrated by the fact that it has travelled 27 long years and celebrated silver jubilee during 2011 . At the national there is an Associate Committee consisting 22 members (10 Vice Presidents, 10 Joint Secretaries, President & Secretary General )and the committee is also assisted by Office Secretary and Treasurer. At the regional level the association is run by a team of regional committee members. All the units are independent up to zonal level. In the Associate Committee Meeting of our Association held at Patna during 25.05.13 & 26.05.13 it has been interalia decided that “ no unit should approach Board directly on local and all India issues. As per the provisions of our constitution all units are independent up to Chief Commissioner levels only . Board has already clarified that no representation should be submitted by any unit directly and this should be submitted through AIB only. A resolution has already been adopted in our Associate Executive Committee Meeting that for any matter our Units should not approach any authority beyond their respective Chief Commissioner”. All Superintendents of Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax Department and gr-A officers promoted from the grade of Superintendents are members of the Association.
