I am getting regular calls whether the DPC for the year 2016-17 for the post of Asstt. Commissioner will also be convened with the DPC for the years 2014-15 & 2015-16. Friends, the said DPC will be conducted soon after the DPC of 2014-15 & 2015-16 due to the following reasons-
1. The information including ACRs, vigilance clearance etc. is still incomplete for the year 2016-17 whereas the complete information for the years 2014-15 & 2015-16 is already available with the CBEC. The implementation of the GST being on the cards, the early filling of the vacant posts of Assistant Commissioner are very much required. We have been promised that the DPC for 2016-17 would also be convened after 15 days of the DPC of 2014-15 & 2015-16.
2. It is very much expected that a good number of posts will remain vacant after the DPC of 2014-15 & 2015-16 on account of huge retirements. These posts will carry forward to year 2016-17, by which more number of our officers will be promoted. If the DPC for all of three years is convened altogether, the vacant posts will be carried forward to 2017-18 instead of 2016-17. For example; if 300 posts remain vacant after DPC of 2014-15 & 2015-16 and around 600 posts exist for the year 2016-17, total post for 2016-17 will be around 900 instead of 600 and thus, more number of our officers will be promoted.
