I am getting regular queries about the date of effect of reorganisation of Customs and the fate of the Central Excise personnel under it. Friends, as per my/AIACEGEO understanding and discussions held at various levels in last few months, the newly formed Customs formations under Central Excise/CGST jurisdictional area will be manned by Central Excise on the lines of Customs Preventive Commissionerates. However, I am not aware whether there would be any change in the modalities due to Chennai CAT verdict. As far as the date of effect is concerned, now its date relates to the stay given by the Chennai CAT.
