It were efforts of All India Association of Central Excise Gazetted Executive Officers (AIACEGEO), now All India Association of Central Tax Gazetted Executive Officers (AIACTGEO), that Inspectors started to get early promotions even in zones lagging behind. Sh. Manimohan group, now AIASCT, overwhelmingly opposed this move. But AIACEGEO was successful in getting qualifying service reduced to 2 years from 8 years against all odds. As a result, the Inspectors are becoming Superintendents early even in zones like Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Bhubaneshwar, Delhi, Cochin, Chandigarh etc. etc. and all other zones.
