Sh. M. Ajith Kumar,
Chairman, CBIC,
North Block, New Delhi.
Sub: Help to COVID victims and their families
from welfare fund.
Sir,
It is to submit with due regards
that the CBIC already has a huge welfare fund which may be used in this bad
time to help our officers and their families who have become COVID victims. Use
of this fund may include enhanced ex-gratia amount in death cases, appropriate compassionate
amount to the families who have lost bread earner, compensate the medical bills
above the CGHS limit and any other due help.
2. As
already known, we have lost hundreds of our officers during the pandemic
leaving behind their families having no earning hand. In such cases, the
ex-gratia amount is further required to be enhanced to give due instant help to
the family of the deceased officer. The ex-gratia amount should be at least Rs.
50 lac in both cases, whether COVID or non-COVID. The Association is very well
aware that the ex-gratia amount has already been enhanced on the request of the
Association but the same still seems insufficient.
3. Not only
the enhancement of existing rate of the ex-gratia, it is also required to pay a
compassionate amount at an appropriate rate on monthly basis to the affected
families from the welfare fund till any member of the family is given
compassionate appointment or starts earning otherwise.
4. It is also known to everybody that the hospitals
are charging hefty amounts from COVID patients well above the CGHS rates. In
such cases, it is required to compensate the additional bill amount above the
CGHS rates from the welfare fund because such amount will not otherwise be
reimbursed to the concerned officer/family.
5. If the families of COVID victims require any other
help, the welfare fund may also be used to provide the said help.
6. In view of the above, it is requested to kindly
consider the above submissions sympathetically to give due help to the COVID
victim officers and their families. Not only COVID victims, such helps may also
be given to other officers and their families who need the same in non-COVID
cases. The Association is very hopeful and looking towards your goodself for
kind response in the matter.
Thanking you,
Yours
sincerely,
(HARPAL
SINGH),
Secretary
General.
